Don’t fall into the trap of watching one of these ‘mockbusters’, or do, but go in forewarned and forearmed with the knowledge of the terribleness you are about to witness!
The production company responsible for most of these is The Asylum, whose raison d’être is making low-budget knock-offs of huge blockbusters to take advantage of the period between theatre and DVD release, when people are looking for the big films and see what they think is the one they’re looking for, but just remember…these aren’t the films you’re looking for! The Asylum has had some accidental success, when the pure awfulness of their films transcends B-movie status into something, like a car crash, that you just have to watch. Sharknado is one of theirs…
So, without further ado, here are some of the worst ‘mockbusters’ we could find. If you see them, run! Or…settle down with a lot of popcorn.
Pacific Rim vs. Atlantic Rim
Snakes on a Plane vs. Snakes on a Train
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter vs. Abraham Lincoln vs Zombies
